A new patent from Canon details the optical formula for two new lenses that may very well fight it out to become the replacement for Canon’s mid-range 50mm lens. Patent Publication No. 2015–172611, originally filed in March 2014, lays out the architecture for both a 50mm f/1.4 lens as well as a 58mm f/1.4 lens.
