Russian Astronaut Poses With Floating Nikon Cameras on the International Space Station

ISS045E075825 (10/06/2015) --- Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko poses with photography equipment aboard the International Space Station. International crew members have taken more than 2.5 million images throughout the over 15 years humans have been living aboard the orbiting laboratory.

Following NASA on social media channels can be awesome, but it can also be a bit of an overload. According to the caption on the image posted above, crew members on the International Space Station have taken more than 2.5 million photos in 15 years. The images have a wide range of subject matter, but even the tedious ones can be pretty fascinating.

This image shows Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko floating in a cloud of fancy Nikon camera gear that’s aboard the space station. There are bodies, massive zoom lenses, some smaller lenses (including a macro), and ever a couple flashes. These kinds of “gear porn” pictures are already popular on the web, but they’re even more awesome when they’re posted from space. Interestingly enough, even though the photo gear is worth tens of thousands of dollars, the price tags are all relatively tame when compared to how much everything else involved with space travel actually costs.
