When shooting star photos, there are multiple aspects of a lens to consider. Primarily, you typically want a wide-angle lens. Not only does the lens need to be wide, it also needs to be fast. A lens like the new Sigma 14mm f/1.8 lens stands out as a good choice, for example, and Rokinon makes numerous fast wide lenses.
