Asus Zenfone 6 teaser points to a truly all-screen design

Techradar:

Asus has quietly been making quite impressive phones lately, and based on a teaser for the Asus Zenfone 6, the upcoming handset might be no exception.

Shared on the official Asus Twitter account, the teaser includes the outline of a phone with seemingly no bezels at all, and no notch or punch-hole either.

What it does have is a tiny lip at the top, which could be where a pop-up selfie camera would emerge from. After all, there must still be a front-facing camera somewhere.

Though there’s an outside chance that the Zenfone 6 could go a step further with a dual sliding design, where a camera would slide out the top and speakers out the bottom – exactly that was imagined by one of the Zenfone 5 designers, and shared by @evleaks recently.

Other than the all-screen design, this teaser doesn’t reveal much, but it reads “defy ordinary”, while the text in the accompanying tweet says “embrace the extraordinary revolution”, all of which suggests the Zenfone 6 might offer a design or features that we’ve rarely if ever seen before, and a truly all-screen design would fit with that.

All that said, we wouldn’t take this teaser as confirmation that there really are no bezels on the Asus Zenfone 6, as it’s not unheard of for smartphone teasers to hint at more than is ultimately offered.

We’ll know soon in any case, as the Asus Zenfone 6 is being announced on May 16, and based on earlier leaks on AnTuTu it might also have a Snapdragon 855 chipset, a 1080 x 2340 screen and 6GB of RAM.
