The James Webb Space Telescope recently used its Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) to look at the heart of Messier 74, also known as NGC 628 or the Phantom Galaxy. MIRI resolved the spiral galaxy in exceptional detail. The Phantom Galaxy is around 32 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Pisces.
